My first Anime was Gurren Lagann. It was recommended to me or anything. I was playing an online game where you could spam emotes by pressing sky of the F1-F4 keys in your keyboard and someone had the phrases "Row Row! Fight the powah!" And "My drill will pierce the heavens!" and they'd spam while in game... After playing with with for a bit I got curious and searched, and every year since I've make time to rewatch it.

Bonus: Naruto was the first manga I read.

My first anime was technically Pokémon in the 90s, but if we talk actual anime my hero academia when I started to come back to the culture

I was back then 😂 this was when yu gi oh was all the hype

Mine was Noir (2000), got introduced to it when I walked in on my dad watching it and kept watching anime since.

It's a real cool show about two assassins that make a pact with one another to kill the other once they discover the other's true identity. If you like shows with lots of stylish violence, metal gear style characters and all the "vintage" sort of anime styles from the era it'll be up your alley.

It also has a kickass soundtrack to boot, this was one of my standout favourites.. seriously give it a watch!

Neon Genesis Evangelion was my first proper anime. I remember I went back to a mates house after school, he was proper into all this anime stuff, i'd never seen so much in one room at that age, he then suggested watching that, I was hooked. Watched that, then started on Bleach.

Other than that I watched Dragonball Z and Pokemon as a kid
