Early October Website Update

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know we haven't been all sleepy-mode! It's been a little slower this month, but we've still managed to get a lot done. There has been quite a bit of tinkering under the hood to improve how some of the features and sections of the website work. - We also intend to add a couple more bits at the end of the month, so for now I just wanted to give you a run down of the changes made since the last website update post.

WEBSITE FEATURES & APPLICATIONS

• Pages & Articles fixed: After the previous update the articles section would sometimes error when people attempted to access it. This was caused by one of the newer plug-ins interfering with main page. We were able to fix it however, so now we are able to bring you lovely little updates, much like this one. 🌞

• Sidebar & Content blocks: As you will all notice once we got this working we quickly expanded it and now it should show all around the site. Featured content shows at the top (primarily shows website news, though we will expand to other bits in the future too!) and the sidebar shows meat bits of info and allows for the chatbox to be ever present! Which means you never have to scroll much to keep with the chat!

• Videos & Streams: Allows for livestreams and videos to embedded into the website, meaning if a member of the community streams and add their stream to the videos section then you can watch and participate with the stream chat without leaving GFX!

FORUMS

• News & Announcements has been changed to Community Announcements this is for a couple reasons... As articles can be commented on, we thought if people want to give feedback on an update, or ask questions regarding an update then they can do so by commenting on the article. - Also, as news and announcements show as featured content, we thought it'd be nice to have a section in the forum dedicated to community changes such as people getting promoted into other usergroups, staff opening notices, and other community focused bits and bobs!

MEMBERSHIP

• Community Superstars: This is a new usergroup we added recently and will be given to people who show themselves to be enthusiastic, active and helpful members of website. This usergroup has full customisation options and higher limits; our little way of saying thanks to you lil' fireflies that are pillars of the community!

FIXES & UPDATES

• Core applications and some of the others (Mainly ChatPRO) have been updated and general performance improved; easier of the server, easier on our website browsers!

• In sections of the site that allow comments and reviews these should now be in their own separate tabs.

• A little bug with post sharing was fixed that sometimes caused links to not go to direct posts when intended and would instead just link to the thread.

That about wraps it up for the moment!
